Our Story
A family story, rooted in nature.
Dad — Strato, came to Australia from Imbros, a small Greek island in the Aegean. He was still a boy.
He grew up in Adelaide. Years later he met Mum — Tina, whose family had come from the same island.
Olive oil there wasn't a product. It was simply how you lived.
Together they bought land on the cliffs above Myponga Beach, in South Australia. Clear water below, sun on the slope. It reminded them of home.
Dad planted the olive trees.
More than thirty years on, those same trees still give us our oil.
For years it was pressed only for friends and family.
Then Mum went looking for something gentle enough for her own sensitive skin. She found it in olive oil, and began making soap the way she'd grown up with. Slowly. With very little in it.
Our castile soap still sets in a mould and cures for weeks.
Five years ago I started helping her. We shared what we made with people close to us, and then with everyone else.
Mum still makes every batch by hand.
We keep the ingredient lists short. Our lip conditioner has two. Nothing in the collection carries synthetic fragrance, artificial colour or preservatives.
Less, but better.
